Tom Dunnington divides his time between book illustration
and wildlife painting. This former United States Marine has been a
regular contributor to Highlights for Children and has illustrated
many books and filmstrips on literary, educational, and wildlife themes.
A lover of outdoor life, Tom Dunnington has taken groups of children
on camping trips in wilderness areas. His affection for wildlife,
his unique touches of humor, and his strong interest in the fairy
tale tradition have made him an ideal illustrator for Don Torgersens
tales about trolls, gnomes, dragons, elves, and frost giants.
Tom Dunnington is working on his "Endangered Wildlife" series
which is now being produced in limited editions. Tom lives in Oak
Park, Illinois, and paints in a large studio with windows to the stars.
He is the nephew of Daniel French, the sculptor who designed the Lincoln
Memorial in Washington, DC.
